First advance-tax cycle under the Income-tax Act, 2025. Sections 207-211 are now 403-408, 234B is 424, 234C is 425. Dates, percentages, the Rs 10,000 threshold, the senior-citizen exclusion and the 12%/36% tolerances are unchanged. What did change: a flat 3% interest table, a new challan (ITNS 280N), "tax year" in place of PY/AY, and one Finance Act 2026 tweak.

Missed 15 June? Under the Income-tax Act, 2025 the June shortfall costs a flat 3% once (Section 425), Rs 450 on a Rs 15,000 miss. Pay 45% by 15 September and it stops there. Paying on 16 September costs the same as paying on 14 December. The expensive clock, Section 424 at 1% a month, starts only after 31 March.
